Fire Brought Under Control at Ibn Sina Pharmaceutical Factory in Gazipur by 6 Fire Service Units
Firefighting operations completed at the Ibn Sina Pharmaceutical plant in Sofipur, Gazipur.

Fire Service personnel have successfully brought under control the fire that broke out at the manufacturing plant of The Ibn Sina Pharmaceutical Industry PLC in Sofipur, Gazipur on Saturday afternoon (October 17, 2026).

The blaze reportedly ignited around 4:22 PM in the ground-floor raw materials/product store of the company’s six-story facility. Upon receiving emergency alerts, two units from Kaliakair Fire Station arrived at the scene by 4:34 PM, followed by two reinforcement units from Konabari Fire Station and two additional units from Gazipur Chowrasta Fire Station.

Fire Service Deputy Director Hafizur Rahman and Media Cell Official Md. Talha Bin Zasim confirmed that the combined efforts of the six firefighting units brought the flames under full control by 5:35 PM—roughly one hour after the operation began. Factory workers evacuated the premises immediately when smoke was detected, and no casualties have been reported so far. Fire Service officials noted that the origin is suspected to be in the ground-floor warehouse, while investigations continue to ascertain the exact cause and financial losses. This incident follows a similar fire at a Drug International manufacturing plant in Cherag Ali, Tongi, earlier on Wednesday.
