The Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested three individuals and recovered a foreign-made pistol along with a magazine loaded with a round of ammunition during a raid at an auto-rickshaw garage in Ashulia. The operation took place on Sunday afternoon (October 18, 2026) at Jahanara Begum's auto garage in the Aukpara Adarshagram area, with details officially confirmed on Monday afternoon (October 19, 2026) by DB North Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Saidul Islam.
The arrestees—Syed Alvi (30), Md. Mamun (34), and Zahirul (27)—have a combined total of nine prior pending criminal cases against them involving weapons, narcotics, preparation for robbery, and theft.
Acting on a tip-off, a DB team led by SI Shahadat Hossain and OC Saidul Islam raided the garage around 4:40 PM, apprehending the suspects and seizing a 7-inch iron-and-wooden-handled pistol engraved with the letters 'TTA' and 'ALY'. Police stated that Alvi faces a prior arms case, Mamun faces drug and other charges, and Zahirul has cases for robbery preparation and theft. A fresh case under the Arms Act has been filed against the trio at Ashulia Police Station, and they have been sent to court as investigations continue into the origin and intended use of the weapon.
