Passenger traffic at the Hili land port immigration checkpost in Dinajpur has increased fivefold during Sharadiya Durga Puja, as citizens from both sides of the border travel to visit relatives and share in the festive celebrations.

While daily passenger movement previously averaged around 100 travelers, the number has now surged to over 500 per day. According to Hili Immigration Checkpost Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zakaria, the resumption of tourist visas following previous limitations implemented after August 5, 2024, has facilitated this renewed travel momentum, prompting authorities to bolster staff capacity to manage the increased volume.
