Workers of Ingenitex BD Limited and Ingenitex Active Limited factories in Ashulia staged a protest procession and human chain to press home their demands for the payment of contractual dues.
The program was organized on Friday afternoon near the Baipail intersection in Ashulia under the initiative of the National Garment Workers Unity, with aggrieved workers actively participating.
During the human chain, workers protested the delay in clearing their contractual dues, demanding swift payment alongside the assurance of workers' rights and employment security.
The workers stated that factory authorities' delays in settling payments in accordance with agreements have plunged workers and their families into severe financial uncertainty. Consequently, they urged factory management to immediately disburse all legal and contractual arrears while demanding effective intervention from relevant government authorities to ensure employment safety.
Presenting a five-point demand from the platform, National Garment Workers Unity President Md. Faridul Islam and other leaders warned that no dilly-dallying or reluctance in clearing workers' dues would be tolerated. They cautioned that delayed payments are brewing discontent among industrial workers, which could escalate tensions across the industrial zone. They affirmed that their peaceful and democratic movement will continue until workers' legitimate dues and rights are fully guaranteed.
