After her beloved pet Persian cat went missing, housewife Khushi Khatun (41) printed lost-and-found posters, put them up around the area, and shared them widely across social media. Following her campaign, a woman called to claim she had the cat and was giving it medical treatment because it was ill. However, as soon as Khushi asked for her address, the caller switched off her phone and disappeared.

Determined to find her beloved pet, Khushi searched tirelessly before filing a written complaint at Pabna Sadar Police Station on Tuesday (September 29). Responding to the complaint, police launched an investigation and successfully tracked down and rescued the cat from a residence in Pabna town on Wednesday (September 30), returning it safely to its relieved owner.

Khushi Khatun is the wife of Rezaul Karim, residing on Kabli Maula Road in the Dakshin Raghavpur area of Pabna town.

According to the complaint, the cat wandered out of the house around 7:30 PM on September 3. When it failed to return, the family launched a widespread search, hanging posters locally and running online appeals. A woman named Oma Khatun later called Khushi, claiming the cat was in her custody and receiving treatment for illness. But when asked for her location, Oma abruptly disconnected and turned off her phone.

Overjoyed at being reunited with her pet, Khushi said, "I searched for my cat for many days. I was deeply worried when the person who called suddenly went unreachable. Getting my cat back is the greatest joy for me."

Khushi’s daughter, Sadia Karim, added, "A relative gifted us two Persian kittens a year ago, and they became an integral part of our family. Losing one on September 3 was painful for all of us. We are thrilled to have it back."

Inspector (Investigation) Sanjoy Saha of Pabna Sadar Police Station confirmed the rescue, stating that officers immediately acted on the complaint, successfully located the cat at a local residence, and handed it back to the family.
