Questions have been raised regarding administrative accountability at Kathaltoli Nesharia Dakhil Madrasa in Betagi upazila, Barguna, after an Ibtedayi teacher named Maulana Abdul Sobhan reportedly spent nearly four and a half years working in Saudi Arabia while remaining listed on the institution's active staff payroll.
According to Madrasa Super Maulana Masum Billah, the teacher initially took leave for Umrah but never returned, prompting multiple show-cause notices and official letters sent to the Directorate of Madrasah Education. Local residents have also accused the absentee teacher of misappropriating mosque donation funds.
Betagi Upazila Administrator Muh. Saddam Hossain stated that due to the absence of a managing committee, he is currently overseeing the matter and will expedite official steps through the directorate to resolve the case.
