A human chain and protest rally was held in Gafargaon, Mymensingh, demanding the speedy trial and capital punishment of Suman, the accused in the rape and murder of schoolgirl Smriti Akter from Athardana village.

Organized by the general public of Gafargaon, the hour-long protest took place on Wednesday (October 7) afternoon at the premises of Athardana High School in Yashra Union. Students, relatives of Smriti Akter, and local villagers participated in the demonstration, displaying banners and placards demanding the death penalty for the perpetrator.

Following the human chain, a protest rally was addressed by Athardana High School Headmaster Nazrul Islam Ripon, former UP Member Kamal Sarkar, and several students. Speakers urged authorities to ensure maximum punishment for Suman through a fast-track tribunal.
