
The International Day of Older Persons was observed in Sherpur through a rally and discussion meeting organized jointly by the District Administration and the Department of Social Services. Centered on the theme "Fresh Perspectives for Longevity," the event commenced on Thursday morning (October 1) with a rally followed by a seminar at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.
Sherpur Deputy Commissioner Farida Yasmin attended the event as the chief guest, with Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Nasrin Akter attending as the special guest on behalf of the Superintendent of Police. Presided over by Kamruzzaman Khan, Deputy Director of the Sherpur District Social Services Office, the discussion was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Shakil Ahmed, Press Club President Kakon Reza, political leaders, civic figures, and government officials. Speakers emphasized ensuring the dignity, rights, safety, and healthy living of older citizens while fostering opportunities for their active participation in society.
