
Ashulia police have successfully rescued eight-year-old Saim from Bhaluka, Mymensingh, three days after he was kidnapped from Ashulia. Police also arrested the primary suspect, Md. Nadim alias Hridoy (33), and his second wife, Asma Akter (31), for their involvement in the abduction. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station, Mohammad Torikul Islam, confirmed the arrests on Tuesday evening.
Earlier on Tuesday morning (October 6), a special operation team from Ashulia Police Station conducted a raid in the Monoharpur area under Bhaluka Police Station in Mymensingh district, apprehending the two kidnappers and rescuing the young boy unharmed.
The arrested suspects are Md. Nadim, son of the late Gafur Mridha from Neoka village under Gafargaon Police Station in Mymensingh district, and his wife, Asma Akter.
According to police and the case statement, Saim, a playgroup student at Alhaj Abdur Rashid Model School & College located in the Gachhartek area of Palashbari Paschim Para, Ashulia, went missing around 11:00 AM on October 3 while returning home after school. Subsequently, unidentified kidnappers held the child hostage and contacted his family over the phone to demand a ransom of 200,000 BDT. Following the incident, the child's father, Md. Nasir Uddin, filed a written complaint with Ashulia Police Station.
Based on the complaint, an expert police team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain initiated an investigation. Utilizing advanced information technology and acting on confidential intelligence, police conducted drives across several districts before tracking down and arresting Nadim and his wife red-handed in Monoharpur, Bhaluka, on Tuesday morning. Kidnapped child Saim was rescued unharmed from their custody during the drive.
Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Torikul Islam stated that after completing the necessary legal procedures, the rescued child will be safely handed over to his family, while legal action will be taken against the arrested accused.
