A mobile court in Kaliakair, Gazipur, fined two pharmacies a total of Tk 20,000 for storing and selling expired medicines. The drive was conducted on Thursday afternoon in the Safipur Bazar area of the upazila by Executive Magistrate and Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shamsun Nahar Shila.

According to mobile court and local sources, the drive targeted Roja Medicine Corner and Sagarika Pharmacy following persistent reports of expired drug sales. During the inspection, expired pharmaceuticals were discovered on the premises of both establishments. Consequently, the mobile court imposed a fine of Tk 10,000 on Roja Medicine Corner and Tk 10,000 on Sagarika Pharmacy, collecting a total of Tk 20,000 in penalties. Executive Magistrate Shamsun Nahar Shila stated that such drives will continue in the interest of public health to curb the sale and distribution of adulterated and expired drugs.
