A mobile court conducted a rigorous enforcement drive at Bangla Bazar in Barkal Union of Chandanaish Upazila, Chattogram, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Abdur Rahman on Thursday afternoon (October 8, 2026).

During the operation, authorities seized 120 kilograms of Volua fish valued at approximately Tk 15,000 due to the adulteration and application of hazardous prohibited chemicals and artificial coloring on marine fish, destroying the confiscated stock publicly as unscrupulous traders fled the scene in the presence of Upazila Fisheries Officer Tanvir Ahsan.

In the course of the same drive, an individual was penalized with a fine of Tk 300 for smoking in a public space, while a bus driver was fined Tk 5,000 under the Environmental Conservation Act-1995 for utilizing a banned hydraulic horn, following inspections of gas cylinder pricing across local shops in Chandanaish municipality. UNO Md. Abdur Rahman sternly warned that activities detrimental to public health will never be tolerated, and public interest anti-adulteration drives will continue across the region.
