Identified notorious drug dealer Sharif Dewan (36) was arrested once again with 400 pieces of yaba tablets by the Detective Branch (DB) of Munshiganj District Police during a raid conducted in the early hours of Thursday (October 8, 2026). The arrest took place around 5:00 AM on the paved road in front of Jannatul Nur Jame Masjid in Dhamdo Purohitpara area under Sadar Upazila, when a DB police team intercepted the criminal. Notably, Sharif Dewan—son of Abdul Hai Dewan from Amtali village in Tongibari Upazila—had previously been arrested by DB police with 2,200 pieces of yaba in August of the same year, and upon securing bail from jail, he immediately resumed active drug trafficking operations. District police confirmed the arrest through a press release issued at night, stating that a fresh regular case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act as legal proceedings move forward.
