Power supply returned to normal at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) after six hours following a fire sparked by an electrical short circuit early Thursday (October 22).
The fire originated around 6:00 AM in a switchboard near the administrative wing, prompting nurses to alert the Rangpur Fire Service, who quickly brought the blaze under control without causing major damage. While the incident caused panic among patients and temporary disruptions, emergency services including dialysis and ICU resumed around 12:00 PM after line repairs.
However, electricity to the administrative block remained disconnected, with Assistant Director (Administration) Dr. Kaniz Sabiha confirming that repair work is underway to restore power there as soon as possible.
