
Police arrested a 37-year-old man named Shamim Hossain along with 70 pieces of Yaba tablets in Raninagar, Naogaon. The operation was conducted on Wednesday (September 30) around 9:00 PM near the Railgate area on the Atrai-Raninagar highway while he was allegedly selling narcotics.
Raninagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zakaria Mondal confirmed the arrest on Thursday (October 1) morning. The arrestee, Shamim Hossain, is the son of Moksed from Chakmanu village in the upazila. He was previously an expelled member of the upazila BNP and currently serves as the vice-president of the Zia Cyber Force Naogaon district unit.
Commenting on the matter, Raninagar Upazila BNP General Secretary Mosharab Hossain stated that Shamim had been expelled from the party prior to the national election, reiterating that the party maintains zero tolerance for drug involvement or criminal activity. Zia Cyber Force Naogaon District President Emran Hossain added that organizational action would be taken against Shamim. OC Zakaria Mondal confirmed that a case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed against the suspect, and he has been sent to jail via court order.
