Police recovered the slit-throat body of a van puller named Bipul Chandra Barman (42) from a paddy field in the Boro Majidpur area of Pirganj upazila, Rangpur, late Monday night (October 5, 2026).
The victim was the son of the late Mahan Chandra Barman from Bahadurpur village under Raipur union.
According to police and local sources, locals spotted the body lying in a paddy field alongside an abandoned charger van near the paved road heading towards Sodapir, west of the Rangpur-Dhaka highway, and immediately alerted authorities.
Pirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Najmul Haque stated that law enforcement recovered the victim and the vehicle, suspecting the murder stemmed from an attempted van hijacking while efforts to identify and arrest the culprits are actively underway.
