Police recovered the slit-throat body of a van puller named Bipul Chandra Barman from a paddy field in the Boro Majidpur area of Pirganj upazila, Rangpur, late Monday night (October 5, 2026). The victim was the son of Mahan Chandra Barman from Bahadurpur village in Raipur union. According to local reports and Pirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Najmul Haque, locals spotted the body and an abandoned charger van near the Sodapir-bound paved road west of the Dhaka-Rangpur highway, prompting police to rush to the scene around 1:00 AM. Authorities suspect the murder occurred during an attempted robbery of the charger van, and police operations are currently underway to unravel the mystery, identify the culprits, and make arrests as the victim's family prepares to file a formal case.
