A heart-wrenching scene unfolded in Barishal when a young girl rushed through a crowd to feed her starving father, Anik Sardar, who had been tied to a pillar at Bamrail Bazar in Wazirpur upazila.
Locals had detained Anik on Friday night over allegations of attempting to steal from a shop, tying him to a pillar. Learning of the incident, his little daughter arrived on Saturday morning, bought tea and roti from a local shop, and lovingly fed him with her own hands.
A bystander captured the emotional moment on a mobile phone, and the video quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread emotional reactions.
Before Wazirpur police arrived around 9:00 AM, local residents and the market committee released Anik into the custody of his family after obtaining a written bond. Wazirpur Police Inspector Faruk stated that a patrol team was dispatched upon hearing of the detention, but locals had already released the accused by the time police reached the scene.
