The Taraganj Thana team emerged as champions in the final of the 1st Community Police Kabaddi Championship-2026, defeating the Kotwali Thana team, who finished as runners-up in a festive atmosphere in Rangpur. Rangpur Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mozammel Haque handed over the championship and runners-up trophies to the respective teams on Monday afternoon at the Police Lines School and College ground. Eight police station teams from across the district participated in the tournament.

Held under the slogan "Say No to Drugs, Eradicate Adolescent Gangs, Build a Crime-Free Society," the tournament was organized by the Rangpur District Police and inaugurated on Sunday. Speaking at the closing ceremony, SP Mohammad Mozammel Haque noted that kabaddi is Bangladesh's national sport and deeply rooted in rural heritage. Emphasizing that sports are vital to keeping the youth away from drugs, gambling, and crime, he stated that such initiatives also strengthen mutual trust, cordiality, and harmony between the police and the public.
