A 14-year-old boy named Md. Kamrul was seriously injured in a cocktail explosion after another teenager picked up the explosive device mistaking it for a toy ball in Shariatpur's Jajira upazila on Tuesday morning (October 6, 2026). The incident occurred around 10:00 AM in the Fedulla Beparikandi area of East Naodoba union under the Padma Bridge South Police Station jurisdiction, as Kamrul was on his way to school with his peer Junaed Ahmed (17), who initially picked up the scotch-tape-wrapped object before showing it to his grandmother Nasima Begum, who identified it as a cocktail.

Upon dropping it in panic, the device exploded with a loud bang, injuring Kamrul severely and prompting locals to rush him to a local clinic before transferring him to Dhaka for advanced medical care, while police rushed to the scene to recover two additional unexploded cocktails from the roadside and launch an investigation to identify those responsible.
