Out of the 15 union parishads in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur, the elected chairmen, members, and female members of 9 union parishads are seeing their terms come to an end this year (2026). Elections for these union parishads were previously held on November 11, 2021. As the tenure of these unions nears its final phase, multiple individuals have already expressed interest in contesting the upcoming elections and have started limited public outreach. According to various relevant sources, elections were held on November 11, 2021, in 9 unions of Pirganj upazila: Chaitrakol, Vendabari, Barodargah, Kumedpur, Madankhali, Tukuria, Shanerhat, Chatra, and Kabilpur. Following oath-taking, the first meetings of the elected representatives for all these union parishads, except Tukuria, were held in December 2021. Meanwhile, the first meeting for the elected representatives of Tukuria union was held on January 2, 2022.
