Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested three Rohingya individuals along with weapons, ammunition, explosives, and various equipment during a drive in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. An easy-bike used for transporting the weapons was also seized during the operation.
The operation was conducted on Sunday (September 27) around 10:30 AM in the Leda Bazar area of Hnila Union under the upazila. The Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) provided this information.
According to BGB information, acting on intelligence input regarding an arms shipment being delivered to a Rohingya camp via Leda Bazar, a special BGB team positioned themselves in the area around 10 AM. Later, when an easy-bike carrying three individuals crossed Leda Bazar, it was stopped and searched. After detecting the presence of metallic objects inside a sack on the easy-bike using a metal detector, the easy-bike along with the three individuals was taken to the Leda BOP.
Upon searching, two G-3 rifles, two domestic single-barrel guns, 42 rounds of ammunition, a magazine, four kilograms of explosives, three tasers, and six walkie-talkie sets hidden inside sacks of potatoes were seized. Additionally, BGB stated that 25 zarda containers, 25 rolls of red scotch tape, two Android phones, and one button mobile phone were also confiscated.
The detained individuals are Md. Osman Belal, Md. Muslim, and Md. Ansari Ali. According to BGB, Osman Belal and Ansari Ali are residents of Kutupalong FDMN Camp No. 1, while Md. Muslim is a resident of Mochoni FDMN Camp No. 26.
Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hanifur Rahman Bhuiyan said, "BGB's intelligence surveillance, regular patrols, and coordinated operations will continue to prevent smuggling of arms and explosives and organized crime in the border areas."
