In an operation against drug smuggling, two female drug dealers were arrested with 7.5 kilograms of hemp (ganja) in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur. The operation was conducted on Thursday evening (October 1) around 6:30 PM by officers of the Special Action Battalion (SAB).

The arrested individuals were identified as Mst. Moni (35), wife of Abdul Haq from the Babupara Railgate area, and Munni Begum (55), wife of Morshed Mia from the Robertsonjet area in Rangpur city. Confirming the matter on Friday afternoon (October 2), SAB Senior Assistant Director Biplob Kumar Goswami stated that based on secret information, a team conducted a raid near a petrol pump in the Taluk Habu area of Gangachara. During the raid, 7.5 kg of hemp was recovered from plastic bags held by the two women. SAB filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act at Gangachara Model Police Station and handed over the arrestees to police custody.
