World Cotton Day 2026 was observed on October 7 at the Jagadishpur Cotton Research, Training, and Seed Multiplication Farm in Chowgachha, Jashore, under the slogan "Prosperity through cotton trade, transformation, and cooperation for the welfare of all."
Guided by Cotton Agronomist Dr. Mohammad Zobair Islam Talukdar and supported by Scientific Officer Rajib Kumar Dey, farm officers, employees, and workers participated in a colorful rally that started from the office premises at 10:00 AM. Following the procession, officials held a discussion emphasizing increased research, expanded cotton cultivation nationwide to boost the national economy, and encouraging broader participation in cotton farming.
The report also highlights global cotton statistics, noting that top producers include China, India, Brazil, the US, and Pakistan, while Bangladesh remains largely import-dependent for its cotton needs.
