The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered 14 pieces of Yaba pills and 70 pieces of Indian Tapentadol tablets in two separate drives along the borders of Thakurgaon's Pirganj and Dinajpur's Birol upazilas. One individual named Md. Mutahar Hossain (40) was detained along with the Yaba during the operations.
The matter was confirmed on Thursday by Dinajpur Battalion 42 BGB Captain Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moin Hasan.
According to BGB, acting on a tip-off, members of the Chanderhat BOP under the Dinajpur Battalion 42 BGB conducted a raid in the Jagannathpur area of Pirganj upazila, where they apprehended 40-year-old Md. Mutahar Hossain, son of Shafiuddin from Jagannathpur village, along with 14 pieces of Yaba. The detainee was later handed over to the Pirganj Police Station along with the seized narcotics.
Earlier the same day, at 6:02 PM, members of the Bhandara BOP under the same battalion conducted a separate operation in the Suihara area of Birol upazila in Dinajpur, recovering 70 pieces of unclaimed Indian Tapentadol tablets.
BGB authorities stated that legal actions are underway regarding the recovered narcotics, and intelligence surveillance remains active to identify and bring other individuals involved in drug trafficking to justice. The total seizure value of the narcotics recovered in both operations is estimated at Tk 25,200.
Dinajpur Battalion 42 BGB Captain Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moin Hasan emphasized that BGB's regular operations to ensure border security and prevent drug smuggling and illicit trafficking will continue unabated.
