Stating that the youth community is one of the primary driving forces behind the country's economic prosperity and sustainable development, Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafy has remarked that the government is implementing multi-dimensional training programs, financial assistance, and employment-oriented activities to transform the youth into skilled, self-reliant, and career-oriented human resources.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that various training programs—including freelancing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), technical, and technology-driven training—are currently underway in Munshiganj. Through these initiatives, young people are being equipped to meet the demands of both domestic and international labor markets while gaining opportunities to establish themselves as entrepreneurs, she added.
The observance began on Sunday (November 1, 2026) at 10:00 AM with a colorful rally organized jointly by the District Administration and the Department of Youth Development, followed by a discussion meeting, youth loan distribution, and an award ceremony. The rally and subsequent events were presided over by Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafy.
Among those who participated in the rally and events were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) A.K.M. Nur Hossain Nirjhor, Additional Superintendent of Police Kamran Hossain, Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development Sheikh Md. Nasir Uddin, and Munshiganj Press Club General Secretary Md. Addressing the discussion meeting, DC Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafy further emphasized that since Munshiganj is an expatriate-heavy district, safe and skilled migration is extremely important for its youth. She placed special emphasis on acquiring technical skills, learning relevant foreign languages including English, and migrating through legal channels for overseas employment. She urged the youth to avoid falling prey to brokers and going abroad unskilled, advising them instead to utilize training from Technical Training Centers (TTCs) and undergo pre-departure orientation.
Other speakers at the meeting stated that instead of depending solely on government jobs, youth must step forward in technical education, self-employment, entrepreneurial development, and technology-based professions. The government, through the Department of Youth Development and various other institutions, provides training, training allowances, loans, and financial support, they noted. By properly utilizing these opportunities, young people can create employment for themselves as well as generate job opportunities for others, the speakers added.
At the conclusion of the meeting, youth loans were distributed among youth organizations and entrepreneurs under youth development activities, and awards were presented in recognition of meritorious contributions.
Additionally, as part of the week-long programs undertaken for National Youth Day, a tree plantation drive will be conducted tomorrow. Activities involving training, skills development, and inspiring the youth community under the initiative of the Department of Youth Development will also continue.
