The burned body of a businessman named Suprobhat Modak (38) was recovered from Aminpur in Sujanagar upazila of Pabna, a day after he went missing.

On Tuesday (October 6) around 8:00 AM, police recovered his body from a mustard field behind his house.

The deceased, Suprobhat Modak, was the son of Satya Charan Modak from Ahmedpur Mistripara village under Ahmedpur union of the upazila. He was a hotel businessman in Kashinathpur market.

Aminpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fazle Elahi confirmed this information.

According to police and family sources, Suprobhat Modak was at his business establishment on Monday. In the afternoon, he took his wife to see a doctor. After the doctor's visit, he sent his wife home, saying he would follow shortly. Afterward, Suprobhat Modak neither returned to his business nor went home.

Later, family members started searching for him at various places including relatives' houses. Failing to find him anywhere, they verbally informed the Aminpur police station at night. Police then launched a search operation.

OC Fazle Elahi said that an attempt was made to track his mobile phone's location using information technology. Around midnight, his mobile phone was found to be turned on, but despite multiple calls, he did not receive them. Later, even though calls came to his number, his exact location could not be confirmed.

Then, on Tuesday morning, locals spotted Suprobhat Modak’s body lying in a burned condition in a mustard field near his house. Upon receiving the news, Aminpur police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Later, the body was sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Aminpur Police Station OC Fazle Elahi further stated that it is certain he was murdered. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether he was burned before being killed or if fire was set to his body after the murder.

Investigations are underway to find out who killed him and why. The process of filing a case by the family is also ongoing, he added.
