
A van driver named Niren Chandra Barman, alias Hiren (45), was killed after being hit by an unidentified ambulance in Mahadevpur, Naogaon. Another van passenger, Paresh Chandra Barman (58), was seriously injured in the incident.
The accident occurred on Monday around 6:30 AM on the Naogaon-Nazipur regional highway, about 100 yards north of the Madina Filling Station in Enayetpur village of the upazila.
The deceased, Niren Chandra Barman, was the son of the late Dhirendra Chandra Barman from Magorail village in Mahadevpur upazila. The injured passenger, Paresh Chandra Barman, is the son of the late Adhir Chandra Barman from the same village.
According to police and local sources, Hiren Chandra Barman was carrying passenger Paresh Chandra Barman on his van on Monday morning. At that time, an unidentified ambulance coming from the direction of Nazipur hit the van from behind.
Both the van driver and the passenger were thrown onto the road and severely injured. Local residents rescued them and took them to the Mahadevpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Niren Chandra Barman dead.
The seriously injured Paresh Chandra Barman was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Mahadevpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Omar Faruk stated that legal procedures regarding the matter are underway.
