
The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection conducted a mobile court operation in Chakaria municipality, Cox's Bazar, to protect public health and children's health. During the operation conducted on Monday (October 5), a total of Tk 85,000 was fined to 6 establishments for various irregularities.
The drive was led by Md. Hasan Al Maruf, Assistant Director of the Cox's Bazar District Office, under various sections of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009. The fine was realized on the spot.
During the operation, R. Rahman Bakery in Mogbazar was fined Tk 50,000 for using unauthorized color harmful to human health, hydrogen, and ammonia in bakery products, using rotten and broken eggs, and preparing and selling food products in an unhygienic environment.
In addition, Satkania Store in Chiringa was fined Tk 5,000 for selling unauthorized baby food products harmful to children's health and failing to display a price list, and Fole Bitan was fined Tk 5,000 for not displaying a price list.
Shah Amanat Store and Azad Store in the raw market were separately fined Tk 10,000 each for selling oil identified as unauthorized Rohingya goods intended for sale.
On the other hand, Tipu Store in the raw market was fined Tk 5,000 for selling "Keodazole"—a substance banned for sale by the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority and harmful to human health—and for failing to display a price list.
The operation was assisted by the Sanitary Inspector and Food Safety Inspector of Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, the Sanitary Inspector and Food Safety Inspector of Chakaria Municipality, and a team from Chakaria Police Station.
Officials stated that such operations will continue to protect public and children's health, ensure safe food, and safeguard consumer rights.
