Shobhan Ahmed (23) has committed suicide in Ishwardi. The incident took place on Sunday morning (October 4, 2026) in Nalgari village, Char Ruppur, Pakshi union of Ishwardi upazila.
He was the son of Md. Ranju from Velupara Madhya Aronkhola village of Ishwardi municipality area and was a first-year honors student at Canadian University.
According to the police and local residents, deceased Shobhan Ahmed hanged himself in a room at his maternal grandfather's house in Char Ruppur due to a dispute and subsequent emotional distress with his parents over a romantic affair. Upon noticing the incident, members of his grandfather's family informed the police. Upon receiving the news, the Ishwardi police recovered his body.
When asked about the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ashadur Rahman of Ishwardi Police Station stated that upon receiving the information, police went to the scene and recovered Shobhan's body. However, as there were no formal complaints from the family, the body was handed over to them.
