Actress Meghla Mukta Expresses Frustration Over Social Media Trolling Regarding Banner Spelling During Protest for Justice Outside Banani Police Station
Actress Meghla Mukta speaking to media outside Banani Police Station during her protest demonstration demanding justice against a hit-and-run driver.

Bangladeshi actress Meghla Mukta staged a sit-in demonstration outside Banani Police Station demanding swift legal action against the driver who critically injured her in a hit-and-run incident, expressing deep anguish after social media users criticized minor spelling mistakes on her protest banner instead of supporting her quest for justice.

The incident occurred on the night of July 28, 2026, when a speeding vehicle struck Meghla while she was crossing a road in Banani. Local passersby rescued her, and she spent over a month in ICU and hospital cabin care undergoing multiple facial surgeries. Following severe delays in police action, Meghla's father filed a formal case with Banani Police Station on September 1. Although police seized the vehicle and detained the driver on September 3, Meghla's family alleged that authorities prematurely forwarded the accused to court, undermining accountability. Taking to Banani Police Station on October 4 to demand exemplary punishment, Meghla faced online trolling regarding typographical errors on a hastily prepared banner. Responding via social media, Meghla lamented that society prioritizes minor spelling glitches over human suffering and systemic inaction, expressing profound heartbreak that fighting for one's rights in the country is met with apathy.
