The President made the remarks on Thursday (September 24, 2026) during a courtesy meeting at Bangabhaban with a 20-member delegation from the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), led by Chief Adviser Prof. Dr. Forhad Halim Donor and President Prof. Dr. Harun Al Rashid. Addressing the delegation, President Alamgir noted that past policy shortcomings and a lack of structured manpower planning—specifically regarding requirements for doctors, nurses, technologists, and medical equipment—stifled the sector's growth. He highlighted that the current administration allocated the highest budget to healthcare in national history, urging stakeholders to capitalize on this opportunity by improving new physician recruitment, enhancing infrastructure, and ending political lobbying in appointments and promotions. Furthermore, the President called for strict regulation of unlicensed private clinics and diagnostic centers while expressing gratitude to physicians for their medical services to former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, victims of the July Mass Uprising, and political leaders.
