Five more deaths from measles symptoms have been recorded across Bangladesh in a 24-hour period, taking the total death toll from confirmed measles and suspected cases to 1,081 this year.
According to the regular health bulletin released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (September 24, 2026), 101 deaths have been confirmed from measles, while 980 individuals died exhibiting measles symptoms. Of the five latest fatalities recorded between Wednesday morning and Thursday morning, three occurred in the Dhaka Division alone. During the same 24-hour window, 1,283 new patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide with measles symptoms. Division-wise admissions show Dhaka leading with 507 new patients, followed by Chattogram with 282, Sylhet with 156, Barishal with 130, Khulna with 103, Mymensingh with 72, Rajshahi with 28, and Rangpur with 9. DGHS data reveals that 163,153 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals since March 15, with 156,744 discharged after treatment. Total suspected measles cases have reached 184,632, of which 20,951 have been laboratory-confirmed.
