At least 26 people have been killed, five injured, and 27 initially reported missing following a devastating Russian aerial bomb strike on a humanitarian aid distribution center in the village of Komyshuvakha, located in Ukraine's southern Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the Monday, November 2, 2026 attack, describing it as an extremely horrifying atrocity targeting vulnerable civilians.
According to Mykhailo Semikin, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Russian forces dropped at least nine heavy 3,000kg guided aerial bombs (FAB-3000) on the community. The attack utilized a destructive "double-tap" tactic: after the initial strike destroyed a local school building where residents assembled every Monday to receive aid, a second strike hit the adjacent shelter where survivors and first responders had gathered for cover. Ukraine's State Emergency Service (DSNS) confirmed that the fatalities include two emergency rescue workers and four police officers who died while assisting victims.

He noted that while a recent humanitarian evacuation operation from Russian-occupied Oleshky—mediated under US First Lady Melania Trump—offered a brief window of diplomatic hope, this attack sends a clear signal that Moscow favors continued escalation. The attack comes as delegations from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States prepare for a new round of peace talks.
