Following a sustained multi-day surge, crude oil prices in international markets experienced a slight downward correction on Tuesday (October 13, 2026), as energy traders balanced geopolitical supply risks in Saudi Arabia against prospects of increased Russian diesel exports.
International benchmark Brent crude futures dropped 61 cents, or 0.57%, to settle at $106.04 per barrel. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell 47 cents, or 0.5%, to $93.27 per barrel. The decline follows a sharp rally on Monday, when oil prices surged nearly $2 per barrel, driving Brent crude to a closing high of $106.65—its highest level since September 15. Market analysts note that while ongoing Houthi missile strikes targeting infrastructure in Saudi Arabia continue to exert upward pressure on energy prices, expectations of increased diesel shipments from Russia have offered temporary supply relief, causing price fluctuations across global exchanges.
