The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced an upward revision in the price of private-sector Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) at the consumer level for the month of October, increasing the retail price of a standard 12-kilogram cylinder by BDT 252 to BDT 1,837.
The regulatory authority formally announced the revised tariff structure on Sunday afternoon (October 4, 2026), with the new rates taking effect nationwide from 6:00 PM. Under the new pricing framework, per-kilogram LPG prices have been adjusted upward across all cylinder capacities. Although BERC has been setting monthly benchmark tariffs for LPG since April 2021, widespread consumer dissatisfaction continues as retail distributors frequently sell cylinders above government-stipulated rates due to supply constraints and local distribution markups. Autogas prices used for motor vehicles have also undergone a corresponding upward adjustment.
