In a major drive to combat air pollution, urban waste accumulation, and dengue vector breeding, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Freedom Fighter Mo. Abdus Salam inaugurated a special weekly "Cleaning Day" and mosquito eradication campaign at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University on Saturday (October 3, 2026).

Aligned with the Prime Minister's national directive mandating weekly anti-dengue drives every Saturday, DSCC handed over 200 newly installed waste bins across the DU campus to maintain cleanliness around historical landmarks such as TSC, the Central Shaheed Minar, and Shahbagh. Accompanied by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A.B.M. Obaidul Islam, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Almojaddedi Alfe Sani, Pro-VC (Education) Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam, and Acting Proctor Prof. Israfil Ratan, Administrator Salam led a public awareness rally from TSC to the Aparajeyo Bangla sculpture. A parallel community drive took place in Mugda, where DSCC Administrator Salam and State Minister for Railways, Road Transport and Highways Habibur Rashid Habib inspected the Manda Canal near WASA Road, distributed fogging machines, and planted trees at Haider Ali School and College. Concurrently, special cleanliness and vector control drives were executed across all 75 wards under DSCC jurisdiction under the supervision of regional executive officers.
