Gulistan and Fulbaria Bus Terminals to Relocate to Chunkutia Within Three Months: DMP Commissioner
DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmad inspects traffic arrangements at the Mohakhali Bus Terminal in Dhaka.

In a major structural intervention designed to ease central Dhaka's crippling traffic congestion, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmad announced that all bus operations from Gulistan and Fulbaria will be relocated to Chunkutia in Keraniganj within a maximum timeframe of three months.

Speaking to journalists during an inspection of traffic management operations at the Mohakhali Bus Terminal on Saturday (October 3, 2026), Commissioner Mosleh Uddin stated that government approval has been secured for a 10-acre depot site within Rajuk's Jhilmil Project, where preliminary construction has already commenced. Furthermore, RAJUK will allocate an additional 75 acres at the same site for a permanent, full-scale inter-district bus and freight terminal. The relocation master plan encompasses all long-distance passenger transports servicing 19 southern districts, as well as heavy cargo trucks operating out of Badamtali wholesale market. Drawing parallels to the planned relocation of Mohakhali terminal operations to a new depot in Purbachal, the DMP Commissioner emphasized strict enforcement against traffic violations. Member of Parliament Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, who accompanied the commissioner during the inspection, echoed the initiative, calling for comprehensive reforms to end public suffering caused by urban gridlock and transport sector disarray.
