4-Day Nationwide Gas Supply Deficit (320 MMCFD) Begins Nov 4 Due to Summit LNG Terminal Maintenance
Offshore LNG terminal infrastructure in Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, where regasification was suspended for maintenance.

A four-day nationwide low gas pressure situation commenced on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, following an emergency maintenance shutdown at the Summit Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (LNG Terminal) located in Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar. During this four-day period extending through Saturday, November 7, daily gas supply to the national grid will drop significantly from 920 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) to 600 MMCFD—a total deficit of 320 MMCFD.

According to a press release issued on November 1 by Petrobangla's Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Tarikul Islam, regasification operations at the Maheshkhali terminal were officially suspended at 8:00 AM on Wednesday (Nov 4) and will remain offline until 4:00 PM on Saturday (Nov 7) to perform essential emergency overhaul tasks.

Petrobangla noted that a similar maintenance shutdown was successfully executed in December 2025. The state corporation expressed sincere regrets to residential, commercial, power, and industrial consumers across Bangladesh for the temporary low-pressure disruptions while technical teams work to complete maintenance within the targeted timeframe.
