Vehicular movement on the Dhaka-bound lane of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway has been restricted to a single lane following maintenance work on the Alipura Bridge, located past the Daudkandi Bridge.
Tariq Latif, Assistant Superintendent of Police and Staff Officer to the Additional IGP of Highway Police, along with Abdur Rahim, Executive Engineer of the Narayanganj Roads and Highways Department (RHD), confirmed the arrangement on Friday afternoon (September 25, 2026). Under the initiative of RHD, repair operations are being carried out on the Dhaka-bound lane, requiring traffic to pass through a single lane in that specific section.
Highway Police warned that vehicle speeds might slow down significantly during the maintenance period. Commuters and drivers are urged to plan their journeys with extra travel time to avoid unexpected delays. Additionally, Highway Police requested full public cooperation in sharing traffic updates to prevent congestion and manage any untoward situations on the highway.
