State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir has called for intensified international intervention to ensure the rapid, safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of displaced Rohingya refugees to their homeland in Myanmar.
The call was made during a courtesy meeting at the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) with a visiting United Kingdom parliamentary delegation led by MP Apsana Begum, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Bangladesh. State Minister Kabir highlighted the ongoing democratic reform initiatives in Bangladesh, acknowledging the UK government's sustained support and praising the APPG for serving as a crucial bridge between the UK Parliament, the Bangladesh government, and the British-Bangladeshi diaspora community. Addressing the protracted Rohingya displacement, Kabir warned that the crisis has expanded beyond a localized humanitarian effort into a broader regional security challenge linked to irregular migration and transnational risks.
The UK delegation—which includes MP Shockat Adam and House of Lords member Lord Qurban Hussain—informed the State Minister of their scheduled visit to the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday (October 7, 2026). The British parliamentarians reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for continued humanitarian aid and sustainable repatriation in the UK Parliament and international forums. Both sides also discussed expanding bilateral parliamentary cooperation, trade, investment, human rights, and diaspora welfare.
