Local Government, Rural Development, and Co-operatives Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan meeting French Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Local Government, Rural Development, and Co-operatives (LGRD) Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan has expressed Bangladesh's strong commitment to expanding development cooperation and bilateral trade with France.

The Minister shared these views during a courtesy meeting with French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet at the Secretariat on Wednesday (October 7, 2026). Discussions focused on boosting French private investment, advancing critical urban infrastructure, and reviewing the progress of four ongoing megaprojects funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) totaling approximately BDT 12,500 crore—including the Sayedabad Water Treatment Plant (Phase 3), the Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply Project (Phase 3), the Chattogram Metropolitan Sanitation Project, and the Improving Urban Governance and Infrastructure Project. Both dignitaries expressed satisfaction with the bilateral dialogue and the ongoing acquisition framework regarding 10 Airbus aircraft for Bangladesh's aviation sector. Highlighting France's historical contributions to Bangladesh’s municipal sanitation, clean water supply, and urban management, Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan reaffirmed the government's resolve to elevate the strategic partnership to new heights.
