German Ambassador Dr. Ruediger Lotz meeting State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Wednesday.

German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Ruediger Lotz has called for the swift conclusion of the Bangladesh–European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA), emphasizing growing interest among German firms to invest in Bangladesh’s stable, post-election business environment.

The Ambassador made the observations during a courtesy call on newly appointed State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Wednesday (October 7, 2026). Congratulating the State Minister on assuming his official responsibilities, Ambassador Lotz reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations across trade, investment, renewable energy, aviation, and people-to-people exchanges. State Minister Humayun Kabir commended Germany’s long-standing development partnership with Bangladesh, expressing keen interest in broadening cooperation in skill development, education, climate action, culture, and managed migration. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the broader Bangladesh–EU strategic partnership and maintaining close collaboration across international multilateral forums.
