Commerce, Textiles and Jute, and Industries Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir emphasized expediting Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations with Turkey during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Ramiz Sen at the Industries Ministry in Dhaka on Monday afternoon (October 5, 2026).

The discussion covered strengthening bilateral trade, expanding economic cooperation, exploring Turkish fruit imports, and establishing specialized treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs) for hazardous industrial waste from electronics and ship-breaking.

Ambassador Sen highlighted shifts in Turkey's leather sector, extended invitations to upcoming COMCEC ministerial meetings and the World Halal Expo, and confirmed the Commerce Minister's intent to attend the main COMCEC conference. The meeting was also attended by Industries Secretary Abdun Naser Khan and other senior ministry officials.
