Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat emphasized a zero-tolerance policy on aviation safety, prioritizing rapid emergency responses, synchronized rescue operations, and strict, uniform security protocols during the Airport Emergency Exercise 2026 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
Recalling the import cargo complex fire from October last year, the minister stressed the critical nature of initial response minutes, announced plans for an anti-drone system to prevent unauthorized flights over the Key Point Installation (KPI), and noted that security checks apply equally to all individuals, including VIPs and CIPs.
Senior officials from the ministry, CAAB, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and the Fire Service attended the simulated aircraft fire exercise, which aimed to evaluate inter-agency coordination, address preparedness gaps, and prepare for the upcoming International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit.
