State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir stated on Monday that Bangladesh's participation in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York was a complete success, elevating the nation's dignity on the global stage.
Addressing a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (September 28, 2026), the State Minister outlined the key outcomes of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's four-day visit to UNGA. During his visit, the Prime Minister participated in 30 high-level international engagements, including delivering a speech at the General Assembly, addressing seven high-level summits, holding bilateral meetings with leaders of 11 countries, and conferring with heads of 10 major international organizations. Bilateral discussions were held with world leaders including the Presidents of Turkey and Iran, the Vice President of the Maldives, the Prime Ministers of Pakistan, Bhutan, Thailand, Croatia, and Haiti, as well as the Crown Prince of Kuwait and Deputy Prime Ministers of Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Additionally, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held key meetings with the UN Secretary-General, the World Bank Group President, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the CEO of the Gates Foundation, the CEO of Boeing Global, and Wall Street investors, securing global endorsement for Bangladesh’s democratic journey.
