To assist her family financially, Ity Rani had taken a job as a cleaner at the Zila Parishad Dakbungalow two months prior to the incident. On June 3, 2026, she brought her daughters—Aradhya Biswas (12) and Anuradha Biswas (3)—to the Dakbungalow, where staff later discovered bodies locked inside separate rooms. Although husband Dulal Biswas initially filed an unknown-defendant murder case on June 9, police forensic and financial investigations conclusively established that extreme frustration over unrelenting loan repayments led Ity Rani to poison or kill her children before taking her own life. Police stated that the formal investigation is near completion and a chargesheet will soon be submitted to the court.
