BRAC University in Dhaka has received an email threat alleging a bomb attack scheduled for Tuesday (October 6, 2026), prompting immediate intervention by law enforcement agencies and cyber crime specialists.

According to police sources, the threat email was sent to university authorities on Sunday (October 4, 2026) at 6:44 PM from an account under the moniker 'TypicalChineseman'. The message claimed that multiple bombs would be detonated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday across the BRAC University campus located on Progati Sarani in Merul Badda. University officials promptly forwarded the communication to law enforcement authorities to ensure campus security. Speaking on the matter, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Gulshan Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan, stated that there is no cause for public panic and characterized the communication as a low-risk potential threat. A General Diary (GD) has been registered at Badda Police Station, and the DMP Detective Branch (DB) Cyber Crime Division has initiated a technical investigation to trace the sender's digital footprint.
