Bridges Secretary Directs Immediate Repair of Roads and Drains Damaged by Dhaka Elevated Expressway Work
Bridges Division Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf reviews road conditions and infrastructure works along the Dhaka Elevated Expressway project route in Malibag-Khilgaon.

Secretary of the Bridges Division and Executive Director of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, Mohammad Abdur Rouf, has issued strict instructions to immediately repair damaged roads and drainage systems along the Malibag-Khilgaon stretch impacted by the construction of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway PPP Project.

Conducting a comprehensive field inspection from Malibag Railgate to the Khilgaon-Basabo corridor on Thursday (October 1, 2026), Secretary Rouf evaluated project progression, public safety protocols, structural integrity, and post-construction civic amenities. Directives were issued to officers of the Bangladesh Army’s 24 Engineer Construction Brigade (24 ECB)—who are handling utility relocation and replacement along the route alignment—to repair damaged drains, fill potholes, and restore smooth vehicular movement. Additionally, Rouf emphasized structural safety monitoring, instructing engineers to conduct routine technical inspections of bearing pads beneath main elevated girders, while ordering immediate reconstruction of drainage structures compromised near Malibag Railgate. He highlighted that preserving urban infrastructure and minimizing citizen suffering are critical components of mega-project execution.
