The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has secured second place in the Independent Performance Evaluation (IPE) conducted by the Ministry of Finance's Monitoring Cell, recognizing its institutional governance, operational efficiency, and revenue collection.

At a ceremony on Monday (October 5, 2026), Director General of the Ministry of Finance's Monitoring Cell, Rahima Begum, formally presented the recognition crest to BTRC Director General Md. Mehedi-ul-Shahid. Overseen by the Independent Performance Evaluation Committee (IPEC)—comprising finance officials and industry experts—the assessment evaluated 30 selected state-owned and autonomous entities for FY 2023-24. BTRC earned a score of 3.17 by demonstrating strong performance in financial management, transparency, regulatory oversight, and public interest policies. According to BTRC data, against a revenue target of BDT 3,555 crore for FY 2023-24, the regulator collected BDT 4,434 crore. Cumulative revenue earnings from its inception through June 2025 reached BDT 81,891 crore against a target of BDT 75,882 crore. The evaluation also credited BTRC's transparent licensing frameworks, tariff management including "One Country, One Rate" for broadband, expansion of telecom infrastructure via the Social Obligation Fund (SOF), and active engagement with global bodies such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT).
