
Outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen described bilateral relations between Dhaka and Beijing as being at their historical peak, citing deepening political trust, expanding economic cooperation, and increasingly vibrant people-to-people exchanges.
In a statement titled “Over Half a Century Hand in Hand, Toward an Even Brighter Future” marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Ambassador Yao reaffirmed Beijing's steadfast support for Bangladesh’s government, national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and greater international role while opposing external interference.
Highlighting major milestones, Ambassador Yao noted that this year marks the 51st anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversary of Belt and Road cooperation between the two nations.
He singled out Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s official visit to China this year as a pivotal moment that elevated bilateral ties to a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future. As he prepares to conclude his three-year and nine-month tenure in Dhaka, the envoy expressed deep admiration for the resilience of the Bangladeshi people and voiced strong optimism for the nation's future under its new path of reform and development.
